Sharon Martin First Prize - Realist Section
for ‘The last Regatta”

Our end of the year Art Show was again a great success with a large crowd of over 90 people attending, all chatting, laughing and enjoying the occasion!

Cr. Bill Bennett, Mayor of City of Whitehorse, opened the Art Show and presented prizes. Cr Tina Liu announced the popular choice award.

Michael Sukkar, Federal member for Deakin also presented prizes as well as kindly donating a large hamper which was our major raffle prize.

Thank you Michael, Bill and Tina for your interest in art and your support to our association.

We had 80 paintings on display entered by 47 artists. There were two sections, ‘General Realist Art’ and our ‘Amazing Animal Friends’. Both sections had many very excellent artworks from which our judge Jenny John had to choose the winners. A difficult job, thank you Jenny, very well done.

2018 is the Chinese ‘Year of the Dog’ and this theme was taken up and many highly colourful works created using at graphic colour were entered. They looked fantastic! Well done.

Thank you to our sponsors for the prizes, The Art Shop.com, Frame City, Craig at Studio 536, and Bunnings Warehouse. Thank you also to WAA member Barbara Rogalski for donating an encouragement award.

Dot Browne did an amazing job catering for the day. Thank you very much Dot. Thank you to all who brought along food to share.

The two sections: ‘General Realist Art’ and our ‘Amazing Animal Friends’ had 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th prizes and six highly commended awards were given out.

Natalie Doubrovski won popular choice and a Third Prize with her superb painting ‘Cats Kingdom’

Finally thank you to Colin Foster, Laurie Dusting, Frances LaCaria and all who helped make this show such a success.
