Paintout – Blackburn Lake, 6th April 2013

Once again we were blessed with a lovely sunny afternoon for our second paintout for the year at Blackburn Lake. Seven painters turned up and painted at 2 locations by the lake. The temperature was a pleasant 25 degrees C. and plenty of shade was available.

Despite the ducks deciding they did not want to be captured in paint and the sun drifting in and out of clouds, we found plenty to paint and sketch. Reflections in the lake enhanced the view and interested passers-by stopped to view our progress. It was surprising how quickly the time passed. We also took photos for later studio paintings and finished the session with some quick sketches.

All agreed a productive afternoon had been spent and the location was worthy of future en plein air outings.
My only regret was that there wasn’t time to see what the other group had painted.
