The challenge was to create one or two amazing self portraits, for entry in our Super Selfie Challenge competition and exhibition. There were two categories:
(A) The Realist Category in two sections: 1. A realist style artwork in ONE COLOUR ONLY such as a pencil drawing or charcoal rendering or black ink or a single colour oils, acrylic, pastel, etc; 2. A realist style artwork in FULL COLOUR ARTWORKS in any medium.
(B) The Contemporary Category in any medium. Artists were encouraged to really go wild and be creative and expressive, lots of colour, texture, mood or whatever!
Our Super Selfie Challenge and Art Exhibition was really super! The the top and bottom galleries and foyer were crowded and noisy with excited chatter and laughter. Over 120 artists and friends came and cast their vote for the portrait they liked best and discussed the various styles of art shown which included a classical ‘Rembrandt’ style to Cubist, Surrealist, Contemporary and Pop Art. It was also a great time to catch up with friends and fellow artists over a glass of wine or cup of tea.

(I helped a bit) and it
was not easy. Thank you Meredith. Portraiture is not every artists
genre, so good on those who gave it a go. I was very pleased as we had
89 entries by 60 artists, and such diverse styles were produced.
(Rembrandt to Pop Art) Everyone produced a remarkable self portrait of
a very good standard. Well done to all and thank you for taking up the
challenge and entering. To our award winners, excellent work and
congratulations. We gave out over $600.00 of prizes.
