THE SPRING FESTIVAL ON A BRIGHT SUNNY
SUNDAY 20th October 2013

What a great family day, mums and dads with children of all ages, prams, strollers, kids with faces painted running about, groups of people bustling between tents and marquees, music, choirs, bush bands.
Set amongst all this was the Whitehorse Arts Tent with our paintings, unframed works and cards on display. We looked good and had quite a number of enquiries from passers by and gave out our literature and card invites.

One unframed water colour was sold, congratulations Sandy Tilley who is one of our new members and to Ann Cunningham for her card sale.
The day was a definite success in showcasing our Art and promoting Whitehorse Arts Association. Thank you to all those who manned the tent, spruiked, helped set up and especially Colin Foster for packing up and returning the display stands on his trailer.

I personally enjoyed the day as I was outside the tent asking passers by to pose for quick sketch portraits. This is something that I enjoy doing and it seems to attract people, some peering over your shoulder to see how the portrait is going! One man said to me “make sure you get the eyes right they are very important!” people are full of good advice! I was encouraged though to have an admirer, a 10 year old boy who stood there and watched every brush stroke for a time. These are the joys of painting outdoors, that and treating ourselves to a blueberry ice cream on the way out. It was a very festive and enjoyable day.
