July 2024 Dunia Connell

I love my art classes. At times I find them very challenging but in hindsight those challenges are how we improve, using different mediums and being guided by our tutors.
Many years ago, my husband bought me an easel and a wooden box full of everything I needed for painting with oils.
Nature fascinates me. I love reflections, landscapes, trees, water and flowers. My favourite medium is pastels.
In those early days, my tutors were Nell Frysteen and Lorraine Wigcraft.
I have done many portraits under the guidance of Alan Close: my grandchildren and I have painted our cat and dog.
Lately Alan Close encouraged me to try watercolours and acrylics. So much to learn but I really had fun experimenting with these 2 mediums.
My husband when travelling in Italy took many photos; a winery in Tuscany, and a shot of a gondola in Venice. Thanks to Alan Close, I was very pleased with my recent efforts.
I do enjoy the Saturday workshops at the Hub, as we learn so much from inspiring professional artists.
