April 2024 Eve Goble
I’ve been interested in art from a young age. My mother had her own art on our house walls and my Dad was a
silversmith, so they both had creative talents that they
nurtured within me. I have fond memories of sitting
around the table as a family with my 3 Sisters, Mum and Dad all drawing together.
At school I was acknowledged for my drawing skills. In
grade six, I combined my passion for horses with my
love of art and drew four horses with their heads resting over a fence. The teacher thought it deserved a 10 but because nothing is perfect, I was sent to the principal who settled on a 9.5. That led to me being asked to draw illustrations throughout the year on the blackboard. This grew my confidence in my artistic abilities. Over the years I’ve done various painting classes. And for several years I attended calligraphy classes, with the highlight being winning first prize for a framed calligraphy excerpt of the Man From Snowy River poem, which included a horse painting.
I’ve now been attending classes at Art Stream for the
last 8 years, where I found myself under the guidance of a remarkable teacher named Alan Close. His insightful teachings and unwavering encouragement have inspired me to keep honing my skills and
exploring new mediums. In these classes I have painted portraits of my 7 Grandchildren along with various pets
and scenes in various painting styles and mediums broadening my skills. It’s inspiring to watch, under Alan’s guidance, the groups art blossom into remarkable pieces. Through this class, I’ve become a member of the Whitehorse Art Society where I attend their regular art exhibits and enjoy their monthly art demo’s.
This love for art has enriched my life. With the guidance of a wonderful art teacher and the support of the art group, my artistic journey is continuing.
